This college was started with the noble aim  of imparting quality teacher education programme to the rural students who are socially and economically backward in this district.

Mahamuth Ammal Educational Trust was founded in 2006 with a great vision and mission to provide quality education.

It is the benevolent management of “Mahamuth Ammal Educational Trust” which taken at most care in generating value based quality Teachers to the society under the dynamic leadership of Mr.N.MOHAMED NAZAR chairman of this trust.

The trust established Mahatma College Of Education at the Ariyur village in the Calender year 2008 with an aim to provide quality education to the rural youth. The Souther Region of NCTE (National Council for Teacher Education, Bangalore) granted permission in the name and style of “MAHATMA COLLEGE OF EDUCATION” with annual intake of 100, formerly affiliated to Bharathidasan University Tiruchirappalli and now affiliated to Tamilnadu Teachers Education University, Chennai
